Lenovo, although best known for their computers and laptops here in the United States, have a pretty big presence in the mobile department in other countries throughout the world. Lenovo has been crafting some very nice looking smartphones for quite some time, and their most recent next, big flagship they’ve announced is the Lenovo Vive Z2 Pro.
We’ve seen lots of high-end flagship smartphones released already this year in 2014, but Lenovo’s latest and greatest looks like one of the best ones we’ve yet to see. Starting off this crazy spec fest is a gigantic 6-inch display with a resolution that is coming in at 2560 x 1440. Following that is the phone’s processor, which is a very impressive Snapdragon 801 unit clocked in at 2.5GHz. A 16 megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization is present on the back of this phone, while a 5 megapixel shooter can be found on the front. In regards to memory, the Vibe Z2 Pro is boasting 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Rounding out this whole package is a 4,000 mAh battery, 4G LTE data connectivity network bands, gorgeous unibody design that’s made out of metal and the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Lenovo’s own Vibe UI 2.0 custom user-interface. In other words, this phone sounds absolutely amazing. It doesn’t look like Lenovo is cutting any corners with this phone at all, and that’s even more awesome. What’s not so awesome, is that this phone has no plans of making an appearance in the Unite States. While it is sad, it isn’t news that’s really all that surprising.
Lenovo’s been kicking out solid smartphones for a few years now, but has yet to bring any of their devices over the United States markets. Lenovo sells desktops, laptops and tablets here in the US, but has still refrained from bringing their phones over here. The issue of competition comes to mind as to why the company might be hesitant to bring their mobile line over to the United States, but with a phone like this, it’s hard to see why Lenovo would have a hard time of selling it. Sure, they would be a new brand in the mobile phone market in the States, but they’ve built up quite a reputation here with their other product lines that they currently sell. Lenovo has yet to make any announcements regarding bringing their phones to the US. It could be a high possibility, or it could just be a nerd’s pipe dream.
However, with the company’s acquisition of Motorola earlier this year, we’d like to think that Lenovo would bring their product line over the US market. Whether it be through Motorola branding or their own, we’d like to see something done with that merger that hasn’t been talked about it quite some time. Motorola is expected to announce the successor to their Moto X flagship sometime before the summer is over. We could hear some information about Lenovo phones in the US at that event, but the chances of that happening are pretty unlikely
