Microsoft Wants To Buy Minecraft For $ 2 Billion

Microsoft, the Xbox video game console producer is in advanced negotiations for the purchase of the Mojang company, which produces Minecraft. Microsoft is willing to pay $ 2 billion for the company according to some sources.

The largest software manufacturer in the world plans to seal the agreement no later than early next week.

Buying the Swedish producer Mojang is to become the most important agreement completed by Microsoft since February when Satya Nadella has become the company’s CEO. Nadella has changed the main interests of Microsoft. Now, the center of attention are the services provided by the company on the Internet and the increasing number of users on the Xbox console.

Microsoft and Mojang representatives have refused to comment so far on the subject but the sources are sure that the transaction will be completed in the near future.

The negociations began several months ago and were initiated by Markus Persson, the person who founded Mojang in 2010. He started these discussions with Microsoft because of the good relationship the two companys have developed for a long time.

Person estimates that the transaction will result in a large increase in sales of Minecraft thanks to Microsoft’s position on the market of video games and computers.

Until June, Mojang sold 54 million copies of the game, Minecraft becoming available since early September for the new generation of consoles Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
