Twitter Dumps Site That Saves Politicians’ Tweets

Twitter has saved Politicians from embarrassment by removing the website which saves and posts the tweets which were deleted by the Politicians. The name of the website is Politwoops which created problems for the politicians and due to that they regret more of such tweets. Now, if they feel regret of their tweets and want to delete them, they can be assured that they would not be shown again. The only thing which can catch them now is if someone quickly takes snapshots of their tweets.

Politwoops is a project of Sunlight Foundation which is Pro-government transparency group. The president of the Sunlight Foundation, Christopher Gates says that the officials elected by the people communicate through the twitter and it is a matter of public record. So, it will not be wrong if it is said that twitter has become the most important source of communication with the public and therefore the tweets which are deleted, also become the part of public.

Twitter began taking action on the Politwoops last month and started working to block the website from having access to the tweets which have been deleted. To reach the tweets which the politicians does not like to be remained shown to the people should be removed permanently and no one has a right to show those tweets to the public as it is against the terms and privacy of the user has been affected due to this. Although twitter has cleared that only the American version of Politwops has been removed and stopped from access of the deleted tweets. British counterpart still have the access to curate the tweets which have already been deleted.

Twitter appreciates the job of Sunlight Foundation which has been working for the transparency in the politics and admits that the government should be hold accountable for everything but giving access to the tweets is against the agreement which has been done by the developer of the site. Therefore, twitter cannot allow anything to be disclosed which could violate the privacy of its users as twitter always honors the privacy of the users.

There were many tweets which were deleted but later were exposed by the Politwoops. The website assisted the news outlets to cover the political fallout when Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was to be exchange with five Taliban prisoners. There were persons of congress and the senators had the tweets in favor of the act of release of Bergdahl’s from the incarceration of Taliban. Those tweets were then deleted when the president Obama had the decision in favor of trade.

These are the few examples of the tweets made and deleted by them;

“Welcome home, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. A grateful America thanks you for your service,” A tweet by Republican Sen. Thad Cochran

“So glad to hear that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is coming home safely. He’s a true American hero,” tweeted by Rep. Jim Renacci, R-Ohio.
